Who is Eligible for Membership?
Membership is open to any corporation which is currently a member of the:
- International Housewares Association (IHA)
- North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM)
Membership is restricted to beneficial owners of the merchandise being shipped.
Five Easy Steps to Become a Member and Participate in IHSA
STEP 1
Forward your completed member application to IHSA.

STEP 2
Forward your completed confidentiality agreement to IHSA. The reason for
the agreement is to protect the confidentiality of IHSA’s service contracts,
which is a requirement by the carriers. In addition, the agreement protects the
confidential information you provide to IHSA.
STEP 3
IHSA provides you with contract rates available for your origins and
destinations. After reviewing the rates, you decide which IHSA service
contracts you want to utilize. IHSA takes care of notifying the different carriers
you plan to support.
STEP 4
Forward your completed Shipping Agreement to IHSA.
STEP 5
IHSA will provide you with a personalized rate sheet detailing all freight
charges (by carrier) and other applicable service contract information. IHSA
authorizes carriers to begin accepting your bookings under the contracts.
There is a separate contract number provided for each contract. Your
overseas vendor needs to simply reference the contract number on your
master bill of lading when making a booking.
